Delivery and returns

What it costs, how long it takes, and what happens if you change your mind or something arrives wrong.

Delivery

Books are printed and bound in the United Kingdom by a specialist book printer, and posted to a UK address. We do not ship overseas yet; if you need a book sent abroad, write to support@wewrote.co.uk before you order and we will tell you honestly whether we can.

Those times start the moment you pay, not when you start the book, and they include printing — most of it is the press, not the post. Working days means Monday to Friday, not counting bank holidays, and the clock starts the next working day if you order in the evening. If we can see that yours is going to be late, we will email you rather than let you wonder.

If you need it for a particular day, tell us the date when you start the book and pay at least 10 working days before it. We would rather talk you out of a tight deadline than miss it.

If a book arrives later than the service you paid for, write to support@wewrote.co.uk and we will refund the delivery charge. If it is going to be so late that you no longer want it, you can cancel and we will refund you in full.

Cancelling

Before your book goes to print, you can cancel for a full refund — including delivery — for any reason or none. There is a button on your book’s own page; you do not have to ask. Refunds go back to the card you paid with and usually appear within 5 working days.

Cancelling does not touch the book. Every page stays exactly where it is, and you can reopen it, chase a few more people and order again whenever you like.

Once printing has started we cannot refund a change of mind. On most things bought online you have 14 days from delivery to change your mind for any reason, and that period would normally run from the day the book arrived. It does not apply here. A book of your friends’ photographs and messages is made to your order for one named person and cannot be sold to anybody else, and goods made to a consumer’s own specification are one of the exceptions the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013 sets out. Our reading is that a wewrote, book falls inside that exception, so by asking us to print, you accept that the 14-day right to change your mind ends at that moment. Everything up to that point is cancellable for any reason or none, which is more than the law asks of us. We say this here, on the order page, and in the terms, so it cannot come as a surprise.

If something is wrong with it

This is different, and it lasts far longer than a change of mind. If a book arrives damaged, is bound badly, has pages missing or misprinted, or is not the book you approved, we will reprint it or refund you — your choice. Photograph the problem and send it to support@wewrote.co.uk within a reasonable time of it arriving and we will sort it out. You do not have to send the faulty book back before we act.

Nothing here reduces your legal rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015, which entitle you to goods that are of satisfactory quality, as described, and fit for purpose.

Things that are not our fault, but are still worth knowing

• A wrong address. We print what you type at checkout. Check it, because a book posted to the wrong house is gone, and a reprint is a new order.
• A soft photograph. You see every page at printed size before you pay. If a picture looks soft in the proof it will look soft in the book — ask whoever added it for a better one.
• A typo in somebody’s message. Words are printed exactly as they were typed. Contributors can fix their own pages until you close the book, so read it through first.
• White pages at the back. Every book is bound at 24 pages at least. If fewer than that were written, the rest are printed as clean white pages, on purpose, for writing on by hand or filling with photographs later.
